That why is everything happened to me all this bad shit? You're gonna keep on having bad luck. But if you say not today, devil, we're gonna get through this. And tomorrow's. Like how why did you decide to finally come out and like. I don't know. Hang out with humans. Yeah. Well, you know, I come from a musical family.

9:00 My grandfather Bigfoot and my sister Bigfoot. But, um. Yeah. You know, there was actually a lot of hesitation for me going out to do shows. Literally everyone was like, you know, you're a fucking idiot, you know? And, like, nobody's gonna believe in you. You're a joke. You know, and my whole life, you know, no one's ever really believed in me and finally just had enough. You know, and I think that's. I had enough. And I'm just like, I gotta do this. You know, if I end up in the corner of a bar somewhere at the end of my life. Yeah, I'll be happy with that. They say a lot of, uh, you know, family trauma fuels, um, work ethic and stuff, so maybe.

9:44 Well, that's deep. Yeah. Well, I'm just like, it's. I'm very curious about the whole. The whole thing. Like, why did you decide to play the saxophone? Why did you decide to like. Because it's very. You're you're putting yourself in a dangerous spot. People have been trying to find you for a long time. That's a great question. Um, the saxophone is when I heard it for the first time. It's like such a primal instrument, you know? It's like. It's like a wild animal. Yeah. And, um, when it's played. Right, I heard it played by a junior walker. Um. And I was like, Holy crap. Like, this is what I gotta do. I got a saxophone and just became obsessed with it. You know, like, you ever just become totally obsessed and you just make something.

Sometimes we cope things. You know, it's like the same thing with your parents not accepting you. Right? Yeah. So we cope it and say like I could prove them wrong, right? Yeah. Proving people wrong. Yeah. Who wouldn't? Who would have known that would be such a good fuel? Or in your case, you've been proving people right that you exist. Yeah. Or some people. Yeah, right. Some people. Because there are people who believe. And that's what I found out, actually, is that there are people who believe. Okay. You know. Like.

11:12 Who? Like they're everywhere. You know, I've been playing these big foot festivals all over the country. And I found out that in the United States, about 20 to 30 people, 30% of people believe in Bigfoot. That's fucking crazy. That's a giant. No, that's that's tens of millions of people. Yeah. Um, and that feels really good. I had no idea, um, that even that market was there, and it's very interesting market, you know? Yeah. Bigfoot was like the culture in the US was really big in the 70s. And so a lot of the women that are still alive from the 70s are the ones like DNA. Me like all this stuff, like. Oh, so you got, like, a big, like, menopausal fan base? Um, at first. Yes. At first, um, that was like the first fan base, you know? Yeah. Yeah. Because in the 70s, it was like, um. Oh, Bigfoot had my baby. Like, check out my babies covered in hair, you know? Who is it? I have a license plate that says Sasquatch. Actually, really? It's kind of vain. Whatever, I like it. You know, and it's not like a it's not like a glorious van. It's not like I'm flexing too hard or anything. Have you had any past gigs before you went solo? Um. You know, not really. Um, the Sasquatch name kind of just came about due to a nickname, because I'm a Sasquatch who became obsessed with the saxophone.

12:55 And so it was kind of like, shut up, Sasquatch, you know? Have you ever, like, taken any, like, psychedelics? Yeah, I have a face, for sure. I had a face for sure. Like what? What were you taking? Uh, anything that. Anything you got, bro? Um, yeah. Anything you got? I would be freaked out if I saw a fucking Sasquatch on cocaine. Yeah. You were. Did you take cocaine? Yeah. Yeah. But, um. What were you like? Were you people scared of you? I'm already like, you're sober now. And I'm scared. Yeah, yeah, I don't anymore. But, um, I have to say it. It was like I didn't do it. I think, like other people did it, you know, it was more. It was kind of sad. Why? Why how are you doing it?

13:37 It's just kind of sad. You know, the party's over and I'm somewhere else. You know, it's five, 6 a.m., you know what I'm saying? And. And it's, you know, we're when the back of a U-Haul. You know what I mean? Just howling at the moon. Yeah. Outside the gas station? Yeah, exactly. Really? You're that into coke? I mean, I mean, uh. Can we talk about that? What do you think triggered you having such a bad drug addiction? Well, you never know. Addictions are a complex topic. You know. Yeah. Um, I've been I've been sober for about 13 years. Oh, wow. Yeah. So it's it's been an amazing journey. I think, honestly, like, um, I think I was just seeking something kind of spiritual. You know what I'm saying? Yeah.

14:20 Um, and so I try to make the music kind of a spiritual experience. Yeah. The shows. So you're. What got you into drugs? Like what was. Why did you start doing a bunch of blowing? Uh, I, I don't know, I was just strong. I was just different than than other sasquatches. I bet you know, I you never know why. It's just one day you go, wow, I'm gonna I'm gonna do that. Some some people, like, do you get talkative on blow? Do you get sad? Like, what's your like, what's your blow take? Um, I get, uh, quiet and I look for stuff that I can sell.

15:04 Shut the fuck up. What was the craziest thing you sold on cocaine? Oh, one of my saxophones, man. No way. Yeah. Were you? Why'd you do that? You wanted more coke or, like. Yeah, it got that bad. Yeah. I mean, that's it's it's real for. It's real, man. Yeah. I mean, I wouldn't have gotten I wouldn't have gotten clean if it wasn't, uh, if it wasn't a problem, I guess so. Wait. Hold on. So you sold your. When you. Okay, so what time did you sell your sex? Like, give me the whole story of that. That probably like, that was probably the last day you got sober then, right? Uh, no. Um, no, but it definitely hurt. You know, I was just it was just. It's definitely a moment when you're like of clarity, when you're like, oh, I'm not in control here. You know what I'm saying?

I know, but, like, so, like, maybe that's what the music kind of saved your life. Um, it's, again, it's hard to say because, um. When. I mean, we're talking about getting clean, you know what I'm saying? And and that's a really complex topic. But I felt like I had to actually put my music to side to the side for a second and find out who I was. Yeah. Um, a huge identity crisis, you know, because it was so wrapped up into the music at the time. Yeah. This was 15 years ago. Yeah, yeah. Um, yeah. To have to relearn music.

16:32 Almost just because I didn't know how to be inspired, you know what I mean? Like, authentically. Because my whole life was wrapped around, uh, kind of chasing dopamine and like almost that's almost how I created music at the time. 50 years ago, 15 years ago, I was like, oh, what's the dopamine release here? What's it going to be like for the person listening, you know? Right. And um, and now it's much more about like, uh, connection on a, on a, on a, on a human level, you know what I mean? Um, you know, life's not all dopamine, you know what I'm saying? No, I mean, that's what. That's why I had to, like, slow down taking drugs, like, I didn't. I didn't like having to, like, shovel back the dopamine from the morning because I fucking wasted it all.

17:18 Like, I've been taking less and less cocaine lately, and, um, I feel my dopamine slowly coming back. I see a lot of people that I hang out with. Uh, I just do blow all the time. And they're like, the mornings they don't have any dopamine, so, like, they're happy when they got that fix, and then in the morning they can't fucking pull themselves out of bed and they think the world's against them. I think the dopamine thing is important. You can't just process dopamine your whole life. You need to find a way to have it come back naturally. If it's music, if it's falling in love, if it's having a hobby, something, find something that keeps the dopamine so you're not relying on this powder or this fucking ecstasy or this weed that to, um, kind of keep you in the strain narrow. Right? 1,000,000%. And I started going to therapy, and, um. You went to. Therapy? Yeah, I still go to therapy.

18:17 Okay. Hold on. Dude. How do you. How does Sasquatch go to therapy? Like, what is this? Sasquatches and humans have a lot in common. I know, you know. And so came from y'all. Yeah. And one of the things he suggested is because I've been alone for a long time, right? Yeah. And so he was like, we gotta learn how to be alone without being lonely. Oh, that's so good point. And then. And then we got to talking. and that was one of our goals. And then he was like, you know, let's talk about finding you some hobbies. What are some things that you like, you know. And I was like, well, I used to love playing chess when I was younger, you know. Yeah. So I got back into playing chess. I started playing Yu-Gi-Oh with my dad. You know. Fun and, um, and these little things that I can do throughout the day to, like, get connection, um, with with something else.

19:02 It's it's it is a spiritual feeling. And I love that stuff. And it honestly, it makes creating so much more relevant because to me, art is all about context. It's like, would you rather would you, would your message rather be chaos or harmony? You know, because when I was exactly when I was, when I was like using drugs and everything, at the end of the day, the truth was that my life was a giant, unmanageable, chaotic mess. Oh, yeah. I realized that the minute I started taking control of, uh, making my show harmony instead of chaos is the minute we started getting more successful, too. Yeah. And and harmony, I think, is about, um, like, kind of almost peace, you know? Um, and letting life happen and not trying to control everything.

19:45 And that's really hard for, like, musicians. Yeah. It's true. I'm telling you. I mean, you're living out of a fucking minivan, dude. Yeah, I'm living out of a bus. I mean, not even a bus. A bandwagon that's a basically a a pop up trailer that just bounces around. I mean, we are the 1%, and it's hard to relate with anyone because we are the 1% that people try to, like, understand our life. Like, I'm glad you found you have a lover. What's her name? Thick foot, thick foot. She travels with you, right? Yeah. Yeah. She understands you. Yeah. Have you had a kid before? Yeah. I, um, we have a almost four year old. Almost four year. Old? Yeah. How's that? How is how is it hard? Is it raising a kid in this?

20:27 This is this is such a it's such a big balance having a kid and and having to tour, you know? Yeah. How do you do it? We basically. I'm touring on the weekends. Um. And, um, it takes a village. You know, my folks help out at home and everything. What are your parents names again? Um, they're they're just fellow sasquatches. I just. Call Mom and. Dad. We have Sasquatch language for that. Oh, cool. Um, yeah. And. And he's so great. Um. Little squatch. Little squatch. That's what he. That's what he goes by. That's so. Cute. Yeah, he likes my music, too, so he'll make the music with me. Sometimes he. He wants to be on a track. How old is he? Four. Yeah.

21:07 Almost four. He's starting to realize what missing someone is. Um, yes. But, you know, not in the same way that maybe we understand it, you know? Yeah. It's still young, man. You know, I always come back pretty. The tours I do are never that long. Actually, if I do like a full tour, it's usually I. I, uh, only do about two weeks at a time, so it's nothing crazy. It's not like that's at a time. Are the other ones supporting your family? Um, yeah. Is it hard? Um, you know, growing up is hard. You know, growing pains. Yeah. Thanks, brother. Thanks. Thanks for. Do you remember that moment, like where you said you had to stop doing, torturing yourself and try to live in peace with yourself? Um, I think there's many moments. Um, but, you know, kind of having spiritual experiences. Um, I feel like I've had so many. Um, just by seeking, seeking them, you know, and looking for them. Yeah. Like what? What do you seek? What are you seeking? I guess, uh, I guess I'm seeking to just get out of my own way. Yeah. You know what I mean?

22:32 How hard is that? It's difficult. Even for a Sasquatch. Yeah. Because, um, you know, we kind of got the bug. Do you got the bug? Yeah. Of course. I live on the road. Yeah, I got the bug. We we want to do it. You know, it's kind of our dream. We live for, like, to interact with the crowd and to have an amazing time and to just know that we're doing that. I feel more comfortable on the road than I do just chilling in my house. I feel more comfortable in a hotel. Man, can I tell you something? One time I, uh, I got done with the tour, and for the first time ever, I had made a little bit of money and I was like, gosh, this tour was so tough. I'm gonna take a break. Yeah. You know, like, I don't know if you've ever done that.

23:13 No, I've never done that. Just make money and then keep it in my bank account. Yeah, but don't don't take a break because, um. When you take a break. What happened? Depression. I fucking know it, dude. I fucking know it. That's. That's why I don't want to stop. I kind of even if I'm, like, a little tired. I'd rather be a little tired and be completely happy then, like being tired and depressed because I'm not doing what I should be doing every, every day of my life. I mean, that's living the dream, right? Yeah. You know, I remember that time that I decided I was going to, like, put music aside and just focus on making sure I'm alive. Yeah. And I remember, uh, you know, walking down the road and being like, man, if I saw a musician playing on the side of the road and I knew that I wasn't doing that, yeah, I would, I would feel so bad.

24:03 Right. You know what I mean? And I just. So I just have to do it. You know, I just it I just have to do it. It's it's who we are. It's what we've tried so hard to do for so long right now. Against our success. Yeah. Yeah, it feels good. You know. No, you don't really feel it until someone says it. You know what I mean? Right. Or just like in it, you don't feel it until, like, you you take your head, you pop your head up from fucking boots in the ground and realize, oh, shit, I've been I've been trying to do that lately. It's like, kind of appreciate what I've been doing. You know, like, I'll just, like, I've just been working so fucking much, and I see, I know I'm getting more successful, but I don't want to put my eye off the prize, but sometimes I, I have I have a couple people in my life who are remind me, hey, look up, look what you're doing. There's thousands of people here.

24:52 You are reaching milestones. You know, it's like sometimes we have to be reminded that all this hard work is actually paying off. You're so right. And it's the little things, too. Um, like like you've run into one person and they say they say something like, um, like six foot. The other day ran into someone and they were talking. She came to me and was like, hey, like, this guy was like on the verge of, like ending himself. And then saw your YouTube video and decided to take his grandfather's old socks out of the closet and play it. And now he's, oh. My. God, now his life is doing so well. And like, you're his inspiration. and I'm just thinking in my head I'm like, that is so like, that's what it's all about is helping people, right? You know? Right.

25:38 And and if you are, ask us why we do it. I think it has to be about helping other people 3%, 100%. Because if it's about us, uh, you know, that's just not the point, right? It's not about. We're not doing this for our health, Sasquatch. We're doing this to fucking heal some people and and probably heal us, too. I mean, look at your story. You got out of cocaine. You've been ripping. I can't believe you were ripping cocaine in a U-Haul. That's fucking crazy. That's crazy. Yeah. Oh, was that before? Like, you're in bands or after you're in bands. Like when you're like, oh. You know, like, uh, like like, who knows? I, I was just one of those people that's drawn to it. Yeah. It's like.

26:19 Me too. I love cocaine so much. Yeah, I gotta be. I gotta stay away from it because I like it too much. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? It's. You're just crying inside. I fucking love coke so much. Uh, no. I like it too much. I got a I got I'm like. But it teaches you willpower. You know, I like. This has been a whole kind of clean year. I've been kind of like, I'll do coke every now and then, but I've been. I stopped smoking weed. Really? I stopped taking mushrooms. Kinda. I eat a little, I eat like microdosing. I microdosing a little bit, um, during the show, but I don't eat them all day like I used to. I feel like I'm finally like I have control of my depression now.

27:04 And sometimes when you don't have control your depression, that's when you start. I think that's when you start taking drugs and shit. Yeah, just like losing it. Like fucking snapping. Yeah, because it's fun at first, but then you're filling a void. And then when you fill a void, that means that's when it starts getting in trouble. Yeah. You gotta feel good in your life, right? I mean, you can't just be miserable all the time and to not take drugs, you know? You got a point, brother. You got a point. You got to feel good. Gotta feel. Good. And that's. That's important. How hard is it to feel good? How hard is it to feel good? It's hard. It's hard to allow yourself to feel good. All right. That's the question. You gotta allow yourself to feel good. We're too afraid to enjoy things because we're afraid. What? Other people are gonna think of them, right? Yeah. What's your take on humans?

27:56 Like, what do you think? We suck. Um. No. No, I think we're equal. You know, I think we're the same. Uh, we're. Both. Some greedy sasquatches out there. You said greedy. Other greedy sasquatches. Yeah. Did you. Know. What I'm saying? I think it's just kind of a human experience. It depends on what roads you go down, you know? Right. Um, like, before I traveled that much, I thought that maybe other people were completely different. Other sasquatches were completely different in other places. Yeah. And then. I don't know if you've come to find this, but just traveling, it's like. Oh, humans are humans. No matter where you go. Sasquatches or sasquatches? We're just kind of the same. Yeah. It depends on the circumstances and the context of things.

What type of advice would you give people to make them feel good? Um. It's tough. Um, you know, I started doing some meditation. Yeah. And, like, guided meditation is a great way to start.
