Jorma Kaukonen quit Jefferson Airplane early in his carrer but simply not showing up anymore. He didn't even talk to lead singer, Grace Slick, about it until many years later. His WW2 veteran dad saw how much success he was having and changed his tune about his son's chosen career path. He has since had a multi-decade career with Hot Tuna (Jorma, not his dad). What an insane way to quit a job most pepole could only dream of.
